This course is designed to teach you to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL) with a range of topics that involve everyday language use. You will gain basic skills and confidence in understanding BSL.

Level 1 is divided into three modules, each of which are achieved separately.

103 – Communicate in BSL about everyday life

To achieve the full Level 1 Award in British Sign Language, you must pass all units. BSL L 1 is a fully accredited course registered and governed by UK awarding body Signature.

At the end of the qualification, learners will be able to:

  • Understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences in BSL
  • Take part in simple, everyday conversations in BSL
  • Give and follow simple directions or instructions in BSL
  • Give and follow simple familiar statements or descriptions in BSL

Do not use smartphone.

Advisable to use ethernet cable to connect laptop / tower computer directly to router for smooth connection.

If you rely on WIFI connection, ensure no-one else / devices are connected to the router, please kindly ask them to disconnect themselves from the router for temporary measures.

Remove any unwanted applications that are running in the background of your device.

Minimise background setting that gives the device camera / webcam a clearer focus on the person than distorted backgrounds. i.e: avoid bookshelves, picture frames in background.
